The Sukkur Press Club, in collaboration with the Sukkur Union of Journalists and other media organizations, held an event titled “Youm-i-Yaadgar — Hum Naheen Bholeingay” to honor the contributions of late journalists who served from 1961 to date. The event marked the first large-scale tribute in Sukkur, bringing together media personnel and dignitaries from across the region.

More than 500 attendees, including the families of the late journalists, political leaders, members of trade organizations, and representatives from social groups, gathered for the event. Journalists from all districts of upper Sindh, spanning from Nawabshah to Kashmore, were invited.

Notable figures present included Dr. Rahim Bakhsh Bhatti, Director of Gambat Institute of Medical Science (GIMS); Dr. Iqbal, Director of Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT); and Kumail Haidar Shah, Chairman of the District Council Sukkur. Lord Mayor Syed Kamil Shah also attended, alongside other prominent guests.

Speakers at the ceremony paid tribute to those who reported the truth during difficult times, including eras marked by dictatorship. They addressed the ongoing challenges faced by journalists today, highlighting the dangers associated with their profession and remembering those who lost their lives while performing their duties.

In recognition of the sacrifices made by these journalists, awards were presented to the families of over 40 late and martyred journalists from Sukkur.
