Supreme Court to take up APNS petition on April 01

ISLAMABAD- A full bench of the Supreme Court, headed by Chief Justice Sheikh Riaz Ahmad, will take up the constitutional petition filed by the All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS), challenging the Seventh Wage Award for newspaper employees on April 1.

Abdul Hafiz Pirzada, counsel for APNS, who was on general adjournment, has come back from abroad after treatment.

Pirzada said that he was feeling fit and would appear before the Court on April 1st, 2003.

The Supreme Court will also examine the appeal filed by Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) regarding implementation of the Seventh Wage Award, which is lying pending in the Supreme Court.

Attorney-General Makhdoom Ali Khan will appear before the Court on Court notice.

Abid Hasan Minto and Muhammad Akram Sheikh are representing the journalists and other newspapers workers.
