June 07 2006: The book, The DQ Vinci Code is a good example of a second-rate thriller of no literary merit making it to the top of the bestseller list on the strength of negative publicity.
Given the amount of negative publicity it is getting, thanks to the storms of protest raised, the film too is destined to be a huge box-office success. I’ve read the book but haven’t seen the movie. I normally don’t because I believe no film, however cleverly crafted, can capture the atmosphere of a book or can transform the beauty of the printed words into moving images.
