KARACHI: Senior sub-editor of The News, Khurshid Alam, died of heart failure at his home here on Monday. He was 60.
He was residing at B-27, Bab-e-Rehmat Apartment, Sector 10, North Karachi. Khurshid suffered a heart attack in his home on Monday and was taken to the Ziauddin Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His funeral was held in Jamia Masjid Habibia after Isha prayers and he was buried at the Muhammad Shah graveyard near Anda More.
Born in 1950, Khurshid Alam had served in The News since 1990. He was one of the founding members of the newspaper. He is remembered by his colleagues as a hard-working and committed person who taught a generation of journalists. He was always pleasant to deal with. He started his career from The Sun and worked in several newspapers. His journalistic career spanned over 35 years. He is survived by four sons and mother to mourn his death.
