KHAIRPUR: Four persons, including three children, were killed and two others injured over Karo-Kari here on Sunday night.

According to reports, a group of 12 armed men barged into the house of Liaquat Ali Rind and opened indiscriminate fire, killing four persons and injuring two others. The dead were Durnaz Rind, five-year-old Imran and Farman and nine-year-old Sadaqat Ali Rind. The injured were Asif Ali and Zuhra Rind. They were rushed to the Civil Hospital, Khairpur.

The A-section police registered a case and further investigations were under way. Reports said Liaquat Ali Rind, a schoolteacher, was declared Karo by a local Jirga. He was fined Rs 25,000 and told to marry his sister to a man from the rival party.

Rind accepted the decision, but one of the relatives of the alleged Kari, Sobal Rind, violated the Jirga decision and killed Rind. This made the late teacher’s heirs avenge the death and they killed Sobal Rind a few days later. On Sunday night, men from Sobal Rind’s side attacked Rind’s house and killed four innocent people.
