KARACHI: A three-day film conference began at the Goethe-Institut Karachi on Tuesday. With a break on Feb 16, the event will continue till Feb 18.
Noted film expert William Gilcher (based at the Goethe-Institut in Washington) will talk on more than 20 films, including documentaries, fiction, TV-specifics, which will be shown in six sessions over three days.
In the first session of the first day four films were screened.
They included Rabbit a la Berlin (German), Chitra (documentary), Living Desert, and The Stasi Files of Hans Kramer (German).
The session was followed by a discussion on the movies by William Gilcher joined in by the participants of the conference, most of whom were students.
Four more films were shown in the afternoon session.
They were: Esterhazy (an animated Polish film adapted from a children’s book), Seerat, Baltazar Ushka Ice Man (Spanish documentary) and Believers (Bosnian documentary).
Wilcher shed light on the salient features and finer points of the movies and responded to participants’ queries related to the screenings.
Six films on the second day (Feb 17) and eight on the third (Feb 18) will be shown followed by detailed discussions.
