Activists of Tehreek-e-Minhajul Quran (TMQ) besieged Aaj TV (a private TV channel) offices in Islamabad, the capital city of Pakistan, on November 07 against the alleged use of ‘indecent words’ against their chief Dr Tahirul Qadri in one of its programmes.

The News Incharge of the channel, Aslam Dogar told PPF that their hosts, Mushtaq Minhas and Nusrat Javed were talking in the program “Bolta Pakistan” on November 06 on the topic “Alternative Leaders for Pakistan” in which hosts said that “Qadri is now just a showbiz personality”.

He said soon after that we continued to receive threats and indecent mobile phone and text messages in which they demanded to dismiss our hosts but after observing no action, about 200 TMQ activists besieged the TV offices on November 07 to protest the use of ‘improper language’ talked against their leader. They carried placards rebuking the show and shouted slogans against the hosts. They also demanded an apology from the TV channel’s administration. The activists were dismissed after police arrival.

Aaj TV Executive Director Talat Hussain said the TMQ should have talked to the channel’s administration if any of its programmes had hurt its feelings instead of surrounding the building.

Host Nusrat Javed said that he would not succumb to the ‘hooliganism’ of TMQ activists and knew how to deal with such ‘dramas’.
