
On December 16, veteran journalist Imran Ahmed Sheikh, news editor at The News and a former staffer of Dawn, passed away at the age of 56 due to health complications following several months of recovery from a Whipple procedure.
Sheikh began his journalistic career in the early 1990s with The Frontier Post as a sub-editor. He later joined Dawn, where he worked for a decade, and subsequently held a brief position at Express TV. In 2007, he joined The News as its news editor.
His funeral prayers were attended by a large number of colleagues, media professionals and individuals from various walks of life. He was laid to rest outside the shrine of Hazrat Tahir Bandagi (RA).
Sheikh, son of the late Nawazish Ali, a retired health department employee, is survived by his widow and three brothers: Irfan Ahmed, Adnan Ahmed and Rizwan Ahmed.
