KHAIRPUR, June 07 2006: District and Sessions Judge Khairpur Akhlaque Ahmed Larik on May 06 allowed a woman to live with her husband. On May 05 night, Mumtaz, d/o Amir Bakhsh Mirbeher, went to the A-Section police station, requesting the police to rescue her life from her step-father. The police on May 06 produced her before the judge where she stated that when she was about 15 years old her step-father had sold her against Rs 80,000 to Peeral who after a year divorced her by declaring her Kari.
After completion of Iddat, the woman told the court, she married Ghulam Sarwar Mirbeher against the will of her mother and step-father and later her mother Lal Khatoon, by deceiving her, called her home in Kabber Mohalla Khairpur and tried to force her to separate from her husband. They had planned to sell her again and her step-father and mother confined and tortured her but on May 05 she approached the police. The judge ordered the police to hand her over to her spouse.
