RAWALPINDI – A woman was burnt critically by her brother-in-law and his wife in Sihala on September 28 night, the father of the victim alleged. However, police said the case was yet to be investigated.

Kausar Bibi, 28, wife of Meharban Khan of Kirpa village, was brought to the Polyclinic by the accused, Sultan Raja, who left her in the hospital and disappeared. Later, she was shifted to Pims with 90 per cent burns where the doctors directed her parents to take her to POF hospital.

But the woman was brought to the Rawalpindi General Hospital and later taken to Kharian hospital. Mukhtar Ahmed, the father of the burn victim, lodged an FIR with the Sihala police, stating that his daughter was set on fire by her brother-in-law Sultan Raja and his wife Khalida Bibi.

ASI Ashraf, who is leading the investigation, said the victim was unable to record her statement at Pims. However, the circumstances in which she was burnt seemed suspicious.
