‘Work on media colony will begin soon’

PESHWAR -NWFP Information Minister Asif lqbal Daudzai has said on Saturday that the provincial government had prioritised the construction of the Durrani Media Colony and work will begin from the next month. The information minister expressed these views while briefing over the government’s progress on the media colony in an informal general body meeting of the Peshawar Press Club.

Daudzai said the provincial government had so far allocated Rs 50 trillion in the Annual Development Programme (ADP) in financial year 2007-08. He said the government would initiate construction of the colony in the earliest possibility.

The minister said that NWFP Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani had called on a meeting of journalists and officials of concerned departments in the first week of July in this regard, in which they would decide the date to start work construction of the media colony in Peshawar. The information minister said the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal government had allocated funds for district and tehsil press clubs.

Peshawar Press Club President Muhammad Riaz appreciated the provincial government’s efforts for the construction of media colony on the occasion and through a unanimous resolution demanded that the government speedup progress and work on it as soon as possible.
