DADU: Condition of a young girl, alleged to have been criminally assaulted by members of her own tribe, deteriorated on Friday as she fainted and collapsed at Bachal Leghari village of Johi taluka.
The 14-year-old girl was reportedly kidnapped by eight armed men on Thursday from her house and criminally assaulted while in confinement for five hours. She was rescued when her relatives surrounded a desolate area late on Thursday evening.
According to uncle of the victim Akbar Leghari, the kidnappers had stolen different items from the house of his brother Ghulam Shabbir two weeks ago.
The matter was reported to notables of the Legharis for recovery of stolen goods. He said that the accused had attacked his house and kidnapped her daughter in retaliation.
Father of girl, Ghulam Shabbir, told journalists that he had lodged a complaint at Johi town police station but the police refused to follow armed men in darkness and promised to trace them early morning.
SHO of Johi police station Bakhshal Jamali said that an FIR had been lodged against eight persons, including Ayub, Hassan, Allah Dino, Laique, Allah Ditto, Mehboob and two others on the complaint of uncle of the girl, Ghulam Mustafa Leghari. Police were conducting raids to arrest the accused, said the SHO.
Lady doctor at Civil Hospital Dadu, Dr Najma Shaikh, said that that the girl was examined and samples were sent to laboratory and a medical board would give its final opinion after test results.
She said that preliminary examination showed that she had been raped.
