Six Arrested by NCCIA for Alleged Extortion Targeting Foreign Nationals

The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) arrested six individuals on September 10 during a raid on a call centre in Block 6, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Karachi, for alleged extortion targeting foreign nationals.

According to the NCCIA, the call centre was allegedly used to impersonate foreign bank officials and obtain victims’ sensitive personal and financial information, including debit and credit card details, which were then used for fraudulent transactions.

A case was registered under Sections 3, 4, 13, 14, 16 and 26 of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2025, along with Sections 109 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code against Bilal Mateen; Taha Manzoor, Mawaz Bin Sami, Cyrus Zakariya, Tayab Mushtaq and Talha Khan. The agency said they were allegedly operating the call centre.

Several laptops, mobile phones and other electronic devices were seized and sent for examination
