On September 8, Syed Khalil-ur-Rehman, Chairman of the Editorial Committee of Daily Jang Quetta and a veteran journalist, died at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Lahore following a prolonged illness.

He had been associated with Daily Jang Quetta for more than 50 years, beginning his career as a calligrapher and later serving as a sub-editor and assistant editor before becoming chairman of the editorial committee.

Rehman was also an active member of the Quetta Press Club and Balochistan Union of Journalists, where he held various positions and advocated for the rights and welfare of journalists and media workers.

He is survived by two sons, Syed Salman Khalil and Syed Tayyab Khalil, a daughter, Maryam Khalil, and six brothers. His funeral prayers were scheduled to be held on September 9 at the central mosque of EME Sector E-Block in Lahore, followed by burial at a local cemetery.

Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti expressed condolences over his death, describing Rehman as a seasoned, dignified and principled journalist whose contributions had left a lasting mark on the profession.
