On August 29, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Barrister Iftikhar Gillani pledged to restore internet services at educational institutions and reopen entry and exit routes in the region within a few days.

During a visit to the Central Press Club, Gillani said educational institutions would be prioritised for internet restoration following an 86-day shutdown that disrupted education and business activities.

Internet services were expected to be partially restored after midnight in Muzaffarabad, Mirpur Division, Bagh and DhirKot, with restoration likely taking place in phases.

He acknowledged the losses suffered by businesses, particularly in Mirpur, and said the government would formulate policies to compensate the affected business community.
