PESHAWAR: The Crime Journalists Forum (CJF), a city level association of journalists, has demanded the police take action against ‘criminals and blackmailers’ in guise of journalists.

The demand was issued at a CJF executive council meeting held on Monday with Javed Aziz Khan in the chair. The meeting demanded the inspector general of police (IGP) launch a crackdown against smugglers, criminals and all those who had ‘PRESS’ tags on number plates of their vehicles but were not journalists.

The forum also asked the IGP, the capital city police officer, and all district police officers to bring cases of blackmailing by journalists into the notice of the CJF so that action could be taken against them under the constitution of the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists and the Khyber Union of Journalists.
