In collaboration with Pakistani social enterprise Tech Valley, Google has announced the launch of ‘Digital Sahafat,’ a new program to enhance digital journalism skills in Pakistan. This initiative, part of the Google News Initiative (GNI), is designed to equip 1,000 journalists with the necessary tools, training, and resources to produce accurate and engaging digital news content.

The ‘Digital Sahafat’ program will officially launch on September 4, 2024, in Islamabad. The event will feature speeches from Kate Beddoe, Managing Director of Asia Pacific Accreditation Cooperation (APAC) News Partnerships at Google, and members of the Tech Valley team. The program is part of the Google News Initiative (GNI), which works globally to support journalism and fight misinformation.

Google’s partnership with Tech Valley addresses the growing need for digital journalism skills. The program will offer comprehensive training on various aspects of digital storytelling, including multimedia production and data journalism. The goal is to equip journalists with the tools and knowledge to navigate the evolving media landscape effectively.

Established in 2015, Tech Valley is dedicated to bridging the gap between academia, industry, and government through technology and innovation. By partnering with Google, Tech Valley reinforces its mission to enhance Pakistan’s media sector and support the professional growth of journalists.
