Government website to provide information in Urdu

LAHORE- Information with regard to various provincial government departments would also be available in Urdu on Punjab Government website to facilitate the masses.

This was informed in a high level meeting presided over by Chief Secretary Imtiaz Masroor and attended by Additional Chief Secretary, Secretary Information, Secretary Regulations and Additional Secretary Information Technology on Sunday. The meeting was told that the information regarding 34 provincial departments was available at the Punjab government website whereas the websites of various autonomous organisations would also be linked to the Punjab Government website shortly. The Chief Secretary directed to update information on website pertaining to those departments which have been devolved after introduction of district governments system. The meeting was told that in order to achieve this objective, web monitoring system had been introduced at provincial level besides web page management committees had also been constituted which would take necessary measures in this regard.

The Chief Secretary further directed to make arrangements for receiving application forms from general public through E. mail so that they do not have to frequently visit the offices. He directed Information Technology (IT) department to identify those departments where this facility could be provided at the earliest. It was further told in the meeting that 12,000 officers had completed this training and would be able to use more than 750 computers in various Punjab Government departments properly.

Meeting regarding appointment of officers on vacant posts for making Information Technology Department fully operational and setting up of IT Department at district level were also reviewed.
