Internet services were partially disrupted on September 27 in parts of Islamabad and Rawalpindi after an optical fibre cable serving a local telecom operator was damaged, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) said.

The PTA said the cable cut affected the operator’s network and caused connectivity issues for some other service providers in and around the twin cities. It clarified that the disruption was geographically limited and had not affected internet services across the country.

Technical teams were working to repair the damaged cable, with the PTA expecting services in the affected areas to be restored within a few hours.
