On January 29, the District and Sessions Court of Islamabad resolved a legal matter involving a social media post, following a settlement between journalist Rauf Klasra and the accused, identified as Zain. Judicial Magistrate Abbas Shah presided over the hearing, which concluded with the court granting bail to the accused after Klasra forgave him and withdrew his objections.
The case originated with a complaint filed by Rauf Klasra with the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), which subsequently led to the registration of a case against Zain. The specifics of the social media post in question were not disclosed, but it had prompted legal action based on Klasra’s application.
During the proceedings, Klasra made a statement before the court, stating his decision to forgive the accused and confirming his lack of objection to granting bail or discharging Zain from the case altogether. Klasra’s act of forgiveness facilitated a settlement between the parties involved.
Acknowledging the resolution reached by the complainant and the accused, Judicial Magistrate Abbas Shah approved the bail for Zain. He noted that the settlement eliminated any further need for the complainant to object, thereby clearing the way for the court’s decision.
The court’s approval of bail following the settlement concludes this legal dispute over the social media post.
