SUKKUR: Journalists in Ubauro have gone on a hunger strike in protest against, what they allege, occupation of an under-construction building of the press club by PPP leaders. The strike entered its eighth day on Saturday.

Gul Mohammad Panhwar, senior vice-president of the Ubauro Press Club, told Dawn that a few days ago some local leaders of the People’s Party

“approached us seeking space for an office in the press club building. But upon our refusal, they called in workers of their party and forcibly took over the premises”.

Mr Panhwar accused Sindh Revenue Minister Jam Mehtab Dahar of “extending tacit support to the occupants”.

He said the journalists had decided to continue the hunger strike till the “eviction of the squatters”.
