The seventh KaraFilm festival, which was postponed in the wake of the October 18 suicide attacks in Karachi, has been put off till further notice. Since 2001, the film festival has been taking place at the end of every year. The event has attracted a large number of movie buffs from the city and brought to the city a host of international and domestic celebrities inlcuding actors, directors and producers.
Talking to The News, Festival director, Hassan Zaidi said that owing to the situation in the country in general, the festival has further been postponed. All preparations for the festival were complete and they still are, but because of the prevailing political uncertainties, they plan to not go ahead with it anytime soon. “As far as I can see, KaraFilm festival is not going to take place this year. But consultations and meetings with all the organisers are yet to be finalised after which this decision might be altered,” he explained.
