On June 18, in a significant move to modernise public services, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, led by Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, unveiled a comprehensive suite of digital policing reforms. These initiatives are designed to improve public service delivery, boost accountability and improve public access to police services through technological integration.

During the inauguration event, Chief Minister Afridi inaugurated the Police Service Management (PSM) App along with various other online systems that consolidate key police services into a single digital framework. This effort is part of a broader agenda aimed at leveraging digital technologies to enhance the efficiency, transparency, and accessibility of public service delivery.

The newly introduced digital tools include the capability for citizens to register First Information Reports (FIRs) online, which is expected to reduce procedural delays and enhance access to legal processes. The chief minister also introduced the Kinetic Police Action Dashboard, a digital platform designed to improve operational oversight and enable real-time reporting across the province.

Additionally, part of the reforms is facilitating public engagement through dedicated service desks and an online complaint management system. This system allows the public to lodge complaints via multiple channels such as toll-free helplines, WhatsApp, and other social media platforms.

Additionally, the Talash Gumshuda Portal has been set up to assist in locating and recovering missing children, and special measures have been implemented to help victims of gender-based violence submit complaints through dedicated online channels.

For emergencies, the “Pink Button” feature will provide rapid assistance to women and children in urgent situations. The reforms also simplify the process for obtaining police character and clearance certificates, which can now be done remotely through biometric verification and online payment systems.

Further enhancing the scope of digital policing, the government introduced streamlined procedures for obtaining and renewing driving licences, which include digital versions accessible on mobile devices. An integrated verification mechanism for licences, challans, and police documents has also been launched to simplify authentication processes and reduce administrative delays.

Special complaint portals for transgender persons and minority communities have been established. The KPCOP mobile application is another key feature launched to enhance the monitoring and operational performance of police personnel in the field.

Chief Minister Afridi emphasised the importance of these reforms in strengthening public trust and improving police-community relations. He directed relevant departments to conduct an extensive public awareness campaign to ensure that citizens across the province can effectively utilise these new digital facilities.
