The Khyber Union of Journalists (KhUJ) condemned alleged verbal abuse and death threats against journalist Rehan Muhammad by Malik Fakhar Zaman, a former National Assembly member and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader from Kurram district.

In a statement released on September 15, KhUJ President Kashifuddin Syed and General Secretary Irshad Ali urged the PTI’s central and provincial leadership, as well as the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, to take immediate notice and initiate action. They called on the party to follow its code of conduct and address grievances through lawful channels rather than threats or intimidation.

The journalists’ union emphasised the importance of allowing media professionals to carry out their duties without intimidation. The KhUJ said it would actively follow up on the case with relevant legal and government authorities and had not ruled out organising province-wide protests if the necessary action was not taken by the concerned parties.
