Karachi: The secretary, Karachi Press Club (KPC), on behalf of the KPC governing body, has denied a report in this daily that said heritage laws had been violated and the heritage character of the club’s building destroyed with the installation of a shed over the front yard of the club.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the secretary said that no heritage laws had been violated as the shed, or canopy, was a removable structure and was not an adjunct of the main building. It could be removed whenever the need arose. It was not a construction or extension of the main building. It was just an installation.
Besides, the secretary added, members of the club have benefited from the installation of the shed, given the shortage of space in the main lounge or the dining hall.
