KUJ election results

KARACHI: The `KUJ Panel` won the Karachi Union of Journalists annual election for 2011 defeating `The Panel`, clinching all the slots.

Polling was held on Sunday at the Karachi Press Club and results were declared early Sunday morning.

Siraj Ahmed was elected president and Hassan Abbas general secretary. They polled 441 and 459 votes, respectively.

Rafiq Baloch with 467 votes and Haroon Khalid with 415 votes were declared elected as vice-presidents.

Sheikh Mehmood and Shoaib Ahmed polled 453 and 424 votes, respectively, for the slot of joint secretary.

Wajid Raza Isfahani was elected treasurer. He polled 414 votes.The following were declared elected as members of the executive council: Shehar Bano (457), Vakeel Rao (455); Javed Iqbal (450), Mohammad Ali Hafeez (452), Zia Qureshi (443), Mukhtar Ahmed (421) and Rashid Latif (401).

Another 52 delegates were also elected for PFUJ`s Biennial Delegates Meeting.
