On May 24, Senator Saleem Mandviwala emphasised the need for media, think tanks and political parties in Pakistan and China to develop a “shared, evidence-based understanding” that security and development are not competing priorities but rather “mutually reinforcing imperatives” that need to advance together.
Addressing the Second China-Pakistan Political Parties Forum and the fourth meeting of the CPEC Political Parties Joint Consultation Mechanism, Mandviwala said: “As grassroots institutions, political parties are uniquely positioned to shape public narrative. We must guide our media and our citizens to tell the story of China-Pakistan friendship truthfully, proudly and consistently.”
Speaking during a panel discussion on strengthening high-level political mutual trust, the senator stressed the importance of rejecting disinformation aimed at undermining relations between the two countries.
“We must categorically reject the disinformation aimed at driving a wedge between us,” he said.
Mandviwala noted that no disinformation campaign or external pressure could weaken the bond between Pakistan and China.
