An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Peshawar dismissed two contempt petitions concerning delays in submitting the challan in the Radio Pakistan attack case linked to the May 9, 2023 protests following the arrest of PTI founder Imran Khan.
The court directed the accused to appear personally at the next hearing and ordered the investigation officer to submit a progress report by September 5. Nine accused remain at large, according to the prosecution, with the court directing their lawyer to ensure they appear in the next hearing.
The court also placed on record forensic reports from the Punjab Forensic Science Agency in Lahore and NADRA in Islamabad, while prosecution officials cited pending forensic analysis and inconclusive video evidence for the delays.
The Radio Pakistan Peshawar building was attacked by protesters on May 9, 2023, causing damage and arson. A case was registered against PTI leaders, lawmakers and party workers.
In January 2026, the ATC judge Wali Muhammad Khan sought a detailed progress report over delays in the investigation.
KP Law Minister Aftab Alam welcomed the dismissal of the contempt petitions, stressing transparent investigations and adherence to legal procedures.
