Lahore—In an attempt to facilitate the journalistic community, National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) has been extending full support to improvise quality of reporting through utilisation of modern technologies.

NBP has handed over ten more desktop computers to Lahore Press Club (LPC). “This initiative reflects the role NBP plays in developing different segments and sectors of our economy and society, respectively, said Farooq Hasan SVP NBP, while handing over computers to Lahore Press Club. He said that NBP is committed to help the media sector grow by assisting in provision of technical equipment, which would further improvise the level of timely reporting and also expose the journalistic community to new and advanced forms in their fields.

This is also part of Corporate Social Responsibility programme being followed by NBP, he added.

“NBP is among the ‘five big’ banks of Pakistan and offers complete range of commercial banking services, on the key areas is lending to farmers”, said Syed Ibne Hassan SEVP NBP.

For the financial year 2011-12 the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has fixed an indicate lending target of Rs 285 billion out of this NBP has been assigned over Rs 43 billion target. NBP takes pride in having disbursed even more than the target assigned last year and aims at offering even better services to the farmers due to its greater outreach, he added.

Under the dynamic leadership of Qamar Hussain President NBP, this becomes possible only because bank’s 875 branches out of total 1271 domestic branches are involved in catering to the needs of farmers. The other point distinguishing NBP is very competitive mark up rate, lower than the rate being charged by other financial institutions, he mentioned.
