The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) arrested 11 suspects during raids on illegal call centres in Lahore on September 24 over alleged cyber fraud, recovering 13 laptops, six computers and six mobile phones as well as digital data.
Six suspects — Muhammad Aslam, Huzaifa, Abdul Rauf, Jan Muhammad, Asghar and Umar Usman—were arrested in an alleged Rs1 million scam involving posing as bank representatives and operating illegal call centres.
In a separate raid at Al-Qadir Plaza, Gulberg III, three suspects—Ahsan Rizwan, Muhammad Ahmed and Irfan Khalid Hussain—were arrested, with eight laptops and three mobile phones recovered. Another raid in Barkat Market, Garden Town, led to the arrest of two suspects, Adeel Shehzad and Ali Adnan, and the recovery of five laptops, six computers and one mobile phone.
The NCCIA said the suspects allegedly used VoIP calls to pose as bank or service company representatives and target citizens in Pakistan and abroad. The seized devices were sent for forensic examination, with investigations continuing.
