The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) in Quetta said that it was seeking a zero-tolerance policy against financial fraud, blackmail, and character assassination via social media, targeting the local business community.

During a meeting on October 5, NCCIA Additional Director Khalid Baqi told the Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI)  that most cybercrime operations originated from southern Punjab and riverine areas. He said none from the suspects in 158 registered cases were from Balochistan.

The meeting, attended by QCCI President Ahmed Gul Kakar, Senior Vice President Mirza Khan Khilji, Vice President Jangiyan Dashti and other members, also discussed losses businesses suffered through online banking and digital payment fraud, as well as blackmail and character assassination using fake social media accounts.

The QCCI proposed a joint task force comprising representatives of the QCCI, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and NCCIA to ensure prompt action on complaints and expedite investigations. Baqi welcomed the proposal and urged citizens to protect their personal data, particularly sensitive verification codes.
