FAISALABAD- Despite repeated claims by the government, no formal inquiry has been started so far into the incident of baton charge on journalists.
This was stated by journalists who were observing hunger strike at the Faisalabad Press Club. Speaking to the participants, Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) President I.H. Raashid termed ‘the incident a blot on the government’s policies.
He regretted leaders had been making lofty claims to hoodwink people. Later, the media men took out a procession from the press club carrying placards; they marched through various roads and demanded that those responsible for the incident must be brought to book.
Representatives of various trade bodies; lawyers’ organizations and political parties also took part in the protest.
