The Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS), in partnership with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), held a training workshop for journalists in Timergara on September 16 to raise awareness about risks and safety practices in hazardous situations.

The workshop, held at the District Press Club Timergara, was facilitated by PRCS Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Deputy Director Zubair Samad, who briefed journalists on the risks associated with explosive remnants of war, disasters and emergency situations. He also highlighted the importance of personal safety and timely, accurate reporting.

Journalists were briefed on navigating post-conflict environments, handling risks associated with explosive materials and adopting precautionary measures. Speakers also highlighted the role of journalists in disseminating information and raising public awareness during emergencies and natural disasters.

District Press Club Timergara President Haleem Asad welcomed the initiative, saying such training was important for improving journalists’ safety and professional preparedness while working in hazardous environments.

The seminar concluded with calls for continued training and awareness to help journalists better understand field risks and report to the public safely and responsibly.
