Pakistan Television Authority (PTA) issue 46 licences to cable TV operators

LAHORE- Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has so far issued 46 licences to cable operators for facilitating people to have easy and economical access to Pakistani and foreign satellite channels in the country. “The process for awarding 276 more licenses is in progress,” Muhammed Saeed, a senior official of PTA said at an open forum on Calling Party Pays (CPP) option at Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI). He said that the city-wise break up of the licenses so far awarded is :- Karachi: 20, Islamabad: 09 and Lahore: 17.

The PTA official said that the authority had received 2060 applications for the grant of the licenses.
