On August 20, Jahan Ara Wattoo, Chairperson of the Punjab Social Protection Authority, and Ayesha Wattoo, Director General of PEMRA, visited the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Commission on the Status of Women (KPCSW) and met with its Chairperson, Dr. Sumera Shams, to discuss women’s rights and social protection initiatives.
The meeting, also attended by KPCSW Secretary Shazia Atta, focused on establishing a Social Protection Authority in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, drawing on models from other provinces. The participants also discussed policy development, institutional cooperation and joint initiatives to promote women’s social and economic empowerment.
The officials agreed to exchange experiences and best practices to strengthen welfare and protection mechanisms for women and promote greater inclusion across provinces.
