LAHORE- Pakistan Freelance Journalist Association (PFJA) has rejected the Fourth Defamation Ordinance, declaring it unpractical.

In a statement issued on 6th October 2002, the President of the Association backing the reaction of All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) and Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE) has said that the association, which is the only internationally recognised Pakistani body will inform all the international organizations about the ordinance.

He declared that the government on the one side is benefiting by raising the slogan of free Press to gain pride internationally and on the other enforcing black laws to put curb on independent journalism.

He asked the government to take back the ordinance and to prepare a manuscript with the consent of all the concerned parties.
