KARACHI: Pakistan Press Foundation (PPF) and Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU) have joined hands to give women students a stronger pathway into professional journalism through paid internships, newsroom exposure and mentorship.
The two institutions signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on October 5, 2026, covering eligible women students of Mass Communication, Media Studies and English. Selected students will gain practical experience with media organisations across Sindh, while PPF will provide monthly stipends and organise journalism skills workshops and seminars. Experienced women journalists will also mentor interns during their placements.
The partnership aims to bridge the gap between classroom learning and professional journalism, helping young women build practical skills and experience before entering the media industry.
PPF Director Sana Ali and Dr Jamshaid Adil, Dean of Social Sciences at SMIU, signed the MoU. Kinza Mirza, Senior Manager at PPF, and Syed Muhammad Bilal Qadri, Assistant Manager ORIC at SMIU, signed as witnesses. Dr Muhammad Afzal, Manager ORIC at SMIU, also participated in the event.
