The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) on October 15, advised mobile phone users to check their network settings and enable technologies such as Voice over Long-Term Evolution (VoLTE) and Wi-Fi Calling to improve call quality and connectivity.

The advisory follows complaints about unclear voice quality and delays in connecting calls over 4G and LTE networks. The PTA recommended that users enable the 4G/LTE option on their devices and ensure their handsets, SIM cards and mobile operators support the technology.

VoLTE enables voice calls over 4G networks, offering clearer audio and faster call connections. Wi-Fi Calling, also known as Voice over Wi-Fi (VoWiFi), allows users to make calls over a Wi-Fi connection, particularly in areas with weak mobile signals, including indoors and in basements.

The PTA advised users to activate Wi-Fi Calling through their phone settings, provided their devices and mobile operators support the service. It also recommended upgrading older SIM cards that may not support 4G or VoLTE.
