PTA recovers Rs6.5bn

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) on Friday claimed it had recovered Rs6.5 billion as universal services fund, access promotion contribution and R&D fund.

The authority said that Rs0.9 billion could not be recovered since the cases were sub judice in the counts.

In a statement issued here, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority claimed that it had recovered over Rs199 million out of Rs311 million from mobile operators. Out of the remaining Rs112 million, cases of Rs60 million were in the courts while nearly Rs52 million recoveries had not been made from operators.

Regarding the Rs33.9 million late payment charges, cases of Rs26 million were pending in the courts.

Referring to payments on account of numbering charges, the PTA had recovered Rs4.368 million.
