LARKANA, June 9 2006: The body of Munir Sangi, a cameraman of a private TV channel, was exhumed here on May 8 for a second post-mortem. District and Sessions Judge Anwar Azam Baloch had formed the special exhumation board after the medical superintendent of the Chandka Medical College Hospital had forwarded the request of the heirs of the deceased.

Mujeeb Sangi, the uncle of the deceased, expressing dissatisfaction over the report of MLO Dr Akhtar Dayo, had requested for constituting the board. The board is headed by Dr Dost Mohammed Shaikh of the CMCH. Members of the board are: Dr Ghulam Qadir Kaheri, (forensic medicine) Dr Haresh Chand (pathology) and police surgeon Dr Allah Rakhiyo Bozdar.

The body was exhumed by the members of the board in the presence of Ibrahim Soomro, civil judge and judicial magistrate, and relatives of the deceased. It was shifted under tight security to the radiology department of the CMCH where fresh x-rays were taken and post-mortem was performed. The board in its report said that right clavicle and two right ribs were fractured while liver, right lung and transverse colon were ruptured.

The board said that the death of deceased had occurred due to rupture of right lung, liver and transverse colon caused by firearm injury. The board recovered bullet and two small metallic particles from the transverse colon and handed over to Saddar TPO Allah Juriyo Khokhar for further examination to specify the particular weapon.

The board said that the fire sustained was from distant range and inclined in downward direction. The board will submit the exhumation report to the director-general of the Sindh health services, district and session judge, SHO investigation taluka and the applicant Mujeeb Sangi. In the earlier x-rays no bullet was seen that had prompted the heirs of the deceased for constituting board and performing post-mortem after exhumation. On the orders of the Sindh chief minister, MLO Dr Akhtar Hussain was suspended and the DG health was appointed inquiry officer who would start probe from June 13.

PROTEST: A large number of villagers took out a procession on May 8 in protest against the murder of Munir Sangi. They blocked the Larkana-Naudero road and demonstrated on the Larkana bypass road. They demanded the accused nominated in the FIR should be arrested.
