Sindh Govt Suspends Mirpur Mathelo Municipal Chairman Over Gadani’s Murder Case

Shahbaz Ahmed Khan Loond, the municipal chairman of Mirpur Mathelo, has been suspended by the Sindh government following his implication in the murder of journalist Nasrullah Gadani. Gadani was attacked by armed men on May 21 and succumbed to his injuries four days later.

Earlier, Gadani’s mother, Pathani Gadani, and two other eyewitnesses asserted that Khalid Ahmad Loond, a Member of the National Assembly (MNA) from the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), and his two sons — Shahbaz Ahmad Khan Loond and Noor Mohammad Khan Loond — orchestrated the journalist’s death. According to them, despite substantial evidence, the local police hesitated to include the accused’s names in the First Information Report (FIR) due to their influential status.

In light of protests from journalists demanding justice, the government suspended Shahbaz under Section 120, Subsection 3 of the Sindh Local Government Ordinance Section 120. This action coincides with a meeting between Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and Gadani’s family, who urged the political dissociation of the accused from PPP.On June 28, the Sindh High Court

(SHC) granted protective bail to all the accused in Gadani’s case. The bail was set against a surety bond of Rs50,000 each for ten days.
