The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) arrested a man on October 16 in Gulistan-i-Jauhar, Karachi, for allegedly engaging in cyber harassment, online defamation and the misuse of AI-generated images.

The suspect, identified as Jawed, is accused of creating fake Facebook and Instagram accounts to upload and circulate digitally manipulated images of a woman, allegedly intending to damage her reputation and violate her privacy. These AI-generated images were reportedly altered and superimposed using artificial intelligence, causing the woman psychological distress.

A first information report (FIR) has been registered against the suspect under Sections 16, 20 and 24 of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA), 2016, as amended in 2025. These provisions cover the unauthorised use of identity information, offences against the dignity of a natural person and cyberstalking.
