A special anti-terrorism court on October 13 received a supplementary charge sheet nominating former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister Sohail Afridi and four other Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders in the May 2023 attack on Radio Pakistan’s Peshawar station.

The charge sheet, submitted by investigating officer DSP Khushal Khan, names Afridi, former provincial ministers Taimur Saleem Jhagra and Kamran Bangash, PTI Peshawar district president Irfan Saleem and party activist Amir Khan Chamkani.

On September 14, the court directed the investigating officer to submit the charge sheet after receiving his progress report. The subsequent submission followed forensic analyses by the Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA) and the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) that reportedly matched the five suspects’ facial features and CNIC details with video and photographic evidence. Radio Pakistan Peshawar station director Tufail Ahmad later recorded a supplementary statement nominating them.

In December 2025, the court ordered the forensic examination of videos and facial recognition analyses based on an application by Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation’s lawyer, Shabbir Hussain Gigyani.

The case involves 75 individuals, including provincial minister Meena Khan Afridi, MNA Asif Khan and former MPAs, who were indicted on June 3, 2025, and pleaded not guilty. The FIR was registered on May 10, 2023, under provisions of the Pakistan Penal Code and Anti-Terrorism Act.

The hearing was adjourned until October 28 due to the absence of Judge Wali Mohammad Khan.
