TAXILA: The sexual assault case registered against the police officials of Wah Cantonment took another turn when the defence counsel presented before a local court the report of medical examination of the teenage girl declaring her not pregnant.
The 13-year-old girl had alleged that she was about three-month pregnant as a result of the sexual assault by the policemen during her illegal detention for 21 days at the police station.
The eight-member medical board in its report testified that the girl was not pregnant as all the clinical and pathological examinations had proved ‘negative’.
However, the girl in her fresh written statement before the court on Friday alleged that the policemen had sodomised her.
On this, Civil Judge Shahbaz Ahmed ordered fresh medical examination of the victim and the accused policemen.
The medical board, headed by Director Health services/Executive District Officer (Health) Dr Zafar Iqbal Gondal, was formed on the instruction of the inquiry team led by DIG telecommunication (Lahore) Zaffar Ahmad Qureshi.
The court also extended remand of the accused – Sub Inspector Mohammad Mumtaz and Wajid Ali – for another day and adjourned the hearing till Saturday.
The former SHO of Wah Cantonment Inspector Sajid Gondal also appeared before the court after getting pre-arrest bail.
Meanwhile, the inquiry team formed on the directive of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has recorded the statements of the victim and the accused police officials at the Punjab House, Rawalpindi.
