TAXILA, May 26: A court here on Wednesday ordered medical examination of a 13-year-old girl who was allegedly kept under illegal detention at the Wah police station for about three weeks and sexually assaulted.

Civil Judge Shahbaz Ahmed issued the directive on the request of the defence counsel Faisal Muneer Khan. The medical examination should be conducted at the District Headquarters Hospital Rawalpindi within two days, the judge said.

The court directed that two policewomen, a sister of the victim and a representative of National Commission on the Status of Women (NCSW) should accompany the girl during her medical examination at the hospital.

Meanwhile, the court extended for two more days the physical remand of Sub-Inspector Mohammad Mumtaz and constable Wajid Ali who have been nominated in the case.

Representatives of civil society and human rights organisations led by Tahira Abdullah were present at the court complex to provide psychological, moral and legal support to the victim girl.

Later talking to newsmen outside the courtroom, Tahira Abdullah said over a dozen NGOs had joined hands to provide every kind of support to the girl till she got justice.

Talking to this correspondent at the office of her counsel Jameel Asghar Butt, the girl complained that the police had not arrested Inspector Sajid Gondal, SI Zulfiqar and constable Kamran who were also nominated in the case.

She said the accused were sending her messages through influential persons asking her to withdraw their names from the case and enter into an out-of-court settlement with them.

She said when she appeared before the regional police officer (RPO) Rawalpindi on May 19, all the accused policemen were present there but only two of them were arrested.

In reply to a question, she said on her appeal through the media, four police personnel had been deputed to provide security to her and other members of her family.
