Balochistan Governor Jaffar Khan Mandokhail stressed the importance of free and responsible journalism in highlighting public issues, promoting institutional accountability and improving communication between citizens and government authorities.

He made the remarks during a meeting with a delegation of the Pakistan Journalists Association (Registered), Balochistan chapter, led by its president Muhammad Hanif Jamali. Mandokhail said the media plays an important role in informing people about their rights and responsibilities and strengthening public awareness.

The governor highlighted the close relationship between politics and journalism, saying both are important to a democratic society. He also expressed appreciation for journalists working across print, electronic and social media, and acknowledged the media community’s contribution over the years.

The meeting was also attended by journalists Muhammad Shahid Magsi, Huma Baloch and Samira Rajput, among others. Mandokhail reiterated his support for the media’s role as an important pillar of democracy and stressed the need for journalists to maintain professional standards.
