On May 15, the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) registered cases against five individuals — Adil Raja, Moeed Pirzada, Muhammad Umar, Nazir Butt, and Ahmad Noorani. According to the NCCIA, the suspects shared “misleading and inflammatory content,” particularly during heightened Pakistan-India tensions, aimed at provoking unrest.

The NCCIA further claimed the individuals consistently shared “provocative material online.” As per an NCCIA spokespersons, First Information Reports (FIRs) have been registered under cybercrime laws.

“The nominated individuals have been actively involved in promoting misleading propaganda against Pakistan’s state institutions,” said an agency representative.

The FIR was filed on the complaint of Muhammad Aslam, a resident, at the Ramana Police Station.

The FIR states that the suspects consistently shared fabricated and misleading materials, which the NCCIA says incited hatred against  state institutions. “This content contributed to creating unrest, anxiety, and distrust among the public towards the state,” the FIR noted.
