On August 24, a delegation of senior journalists from Karachi Press Club and other parts of Pakistan, led by journalist Mazhar Abbas, visited the Sindh Rural Support Organisation (SRSO) to review its programmes aimed at improving economic opportunities for rural women.
The delegation discussed SRSO’s initiatives, including interest-free loans, grants, and business development groups, and met women benefiting from these programmes, including community leaders, entrepreneurs, and artisans.
The journalists visited a Business Development Group supported by SRSO at Mohenjo Daro and met women running traditional food businesses. They observed how the initiatives were helping women generate sustainable livelihoods and support their families.
SRSO Regional General Manager Larkana, Asad Ali Jatoi, along with the district manager and media consultant, received the delegation.
The journalists were also presented with traditional Lungi/Khees handcrafted by one of the women-led business groups.
