On September 5, an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Peshawar sought a fresh investigation report on the May 2023 attack and arson at the Radio Pakistan Peshawar building during protests following the arrest of PTI founder Imran Khan.
The hearing was attended by lawyers for the accused, Radio Pakistan and the prosecution and presided over by ATC Judge Wali Muhammad Khan. Counsel for the accused Ali Zaman Advocate informed the court that the required report, in light of findings from the Punjab Forensic Science Laboratory and National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), had not yet been submitted..
The investigating officer sought more time from the court to finalise and submit the report .
The court was informed that nine accused remain at large.
The Radio Pakistan Peshawar building was attacked by protesters on May 9, 2023, causing damage and arson. A case was registered against PTI leaders, lawmakers and party workers.
Several PTI members, including provincial minister Meena Khan and Members of Provincial Assembly (MPAs) Asif Khan and Fazal Elahi, were implicated in the case. NADRA data and forensic analysis were used to establish the identities of the accused.
