Press Council of Pakistan Collaborates with Stakeholders to Uphold Freedom of Expression

On July 30, the Chairman of the Press Council of Pakistan (PCP), Arshad Khan Jadoon, announced the PCP’s ongoing collaboration with various stakeholders to uphold freedom of expression and media ethics.

In a meeting with a delegation from the Pakistan Bar Council, Jadoon reiterated the commitment to prioritize resolving issues faced by the journalist community. The delegation included prominent members such as Haleem Abbasi, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Islamabad Bar Council; Zulfiqar Abbasi, Chairman of the Discipline Committee of the Islamabad Bar Council; Qazi Adil, Vice Chairman of the Islamabad Bar Council; Qamar Sabzwari, Chairman of the Human Rights Committee of the Islamabad Bar Council; and Naseer Ahmed Kiyani, Chairman of the Enrollment Committee of the Islamabad Bar Council.

Jadoon briefed the delegation on the Press Council’s objectives and mission, emphasizing its role in maintaining media standards and protecting press freedom. He also highlighted the Council’s efforts to address the challenges faced by journalists.

The bar council representatives congratulated Jadoon on his appointment and acknowledged the significant challenges faced by the journalist community. They praised his efforts in transforming the Press Council into a dynamic institution and pledged the lawyers’ community’s full support.

Expressing gratitude, Jadoon assured the delegation of the Press Council’s unwavering support for journalistic organizations and reiterated the importance of collaborative efforts in promoting media freedom and ethics.
